About NOVA

NOVA is a conference catalyzing innovation in brain aging in Boston, organized by the Aging Initiative and bringing together the brightest minds from the entire stakeholder spectrum to advance this essential area of neuroscience. From biotechnology executives to investors, trainees to seasoned academics, patient care advocates, policymakers, and more, this gathering comes at a major inflection point in our understanding and treatment of age-related neurological conditions. With millions of patients, caregivers, and providers facing neurodegenerative diseases, age-related decline, and injury every day, we believe innovative cross-disciplinary solutions are essential. Especially now, it is of the utmost importance that we galvanize collaboration and inspire the next generation to take action. Through NOVA, we will change how the field of neuroscience thinks about brain aging, its manifestations, and ultimately, how to advance the race towards cures.

Meet the Team

Avery Mizrahi
Conference Director

Avery is a sophomore at Harvard College concentrating in Neuroscience with a secondary in Comparative Literature. She is an undergraduate researcher at MIT's Hamilos Lab studying Parkinson's Disease, and former NSF-fellow at UCI studying Alzheimer's. She is extremely passionate about solving memory loss, knowing aging is often a core reason for decline.

Sean Simonini
Conference Director

Sean is a researcher and the VP of Neuroscience for the Aging Initiative. His work focuses primarily on how to engineer cell replacement therapies for neurological conditions. He received degrees in Biology and International Affairs from UMass Lowell.

Nina Khera
Conference Director

Nina is a junior at Harvard studying neuroscience, with research experience in aging and neurodegeneration. She currently researches cognitive resilience to Alzheimer’s disease in the MIT Tsai Lab and has worked at startups across the healthtech space. Outside the lab, she enjoys running and creative writing.

Satvik Dasariraju

Satvik is President of the Aging Initiative and a student at Harvard focused on molecular biology and therapeutics, with a particular focus on diseases of frailty. His research interests have included muscle metabolism, cardiomyocyte regeneration, and immunogenetics, with publications in Science, Journal of Biomedical Informatics, and Human Immunology. Satvik works on biotech company creation and investment as a Principal at Age1, a venture capital fund dedicated to age-related diseases.

Cate Frerichs

Cate is a freshman at Harvard College planning on concentrating in neuroscience. She is very interested in neuro-oncology and researches cell therapies at the Choi Lab at Mass General Brigham. Her passion for neuroscience has led her to focus on neurodegenerative diseases and how aging affects the brain.

James Holliday

James is a junior at Harvard College completing a joint concentration in Human Developmental & Regenerative Biology and Statistics. He is an undergraduate researcher at the Lee Rubin Lab in the Harvard Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology Department, where he is pursuing his interest in protein modulation that arises with brain aging. He is particularly hooked on routes for cognitive improvement via changes in capacity for adult neurogenesis and myelination.

Ramon Moreno

Ramon is a sophomore at Harvard College concentrating in Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology. He is an undergraduate researcher at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute studying Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in the Tothova Lab. Ramon is always excited to learn about age-related diseases as emerging research continues to change the landscape.

Maritella Petsa

Maritella is a first-year student at Harvard College planning to concentrate in Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) on the pre-medical track. Driven by a passion for aid provision, quality of life improvement, and patient advocacy, she is actively engaging in volunteering and research, so as to ensure all voices are heard in healthcare. Her current work explores oncological and cognitive issues, stemming from her commitment to advancing patient care and available healthcare services.

Skyler Reading

Skyler is a first-year at Harvard College intending to concentrate in Human Development and Regenerative Biology, with a secondary in Economics. Over the past two years, she has served as a volunteer EMT, gaining firsthand exposure to the profound impact of neurodegenerative disease on patients, families, and the healthcare system. This work has motivated her interest in healthspan-focused approaches to aging that prioritize functional longevity, independence, and quality of life.

Anne Sun

Anne is a freshman at Harvard College double concentrating in Chemical and Physical Biology and Government. She is an undergraduate researcher at the Rikfin Lab at UCSD where she studies ethanols effects on Caenorhabditis species. She is passionate about aging research and finding the molecular mechanisms behind neurological decline.

Skye Tanzmann

Skye is a junior at Harvard College concentrating in Neuroscience with a secondary in Global Health & Health Policy. She works on the clinical implementation of AI for dermatology at Belle AI. She is also passionate about entrepreneurship in biotech, the influence of diet and exercise on brain aging, and neurodegenerative disease.

Arthur Tao

Arthur is a sophomore at Harvard College concentrating in Neuroscience. He conducts research with Harvard’s Prerau Lab, studying sleep brain-wave dynamics. He is passionate about circadian biology and understanding how circadian timing can inform therapeutic development and improve biological targeting, especially for cardiometabolic and age-related disease.
